How to calculate days between two timestamps?

Some database systems use DATE_SUBTRACT or DATE_BETWEEN functions. In Firebird, it's dead simple, just subtract the timestamps and you'll get the value:

select end_stamp - start_stamp
from ...

If you don't know which one is bigger, use ABS function.
